A bottle ticket from the 1880s. Labels such as this were hung around the necks of bottles placed on the dining table in order to distinguish the contents as such bottles could contain a range of liquids including spirits, sauces, flavoured waters and cordials. The intricate design of the tickets also served to demonstrate the host’s wealth.
